WE HAVE a double whammy of treats today for the Wednesday Writings Column. We move away from our normal format to bring two different cultural offerings:

  1. Firstly, we include the film to be shown as part of Hull’s bid to be the UK City of Culture for 2017.
  2. We include last week’s poem on Radio! David Thompson unfortunately did not perform his poem “East and West” at the Rugby World Cup match as hoped (the item at the England V Fiji match was cancelled) but he did perform it on BBC Radio Humberside on Saturday morning. There is also an excellent poem “Up North it’s Grin” performed by Michael Wood.
