South Holderness Cricket Club – Season conclusion

THE LEAGUE season came to a conclusion at the South Holderness Cricket Club Middle Lane ground in Hedon on Saturday, on a glorious day weatherwise and on a perfect batting track as in excess of 500 runs were hammered out!

Visitors Cottingham CC, totalled a massive 295 for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 48 overs off a wilting attack, with Byron Parker batting through for a sparkling undefeated 148. Rob Moy added exactly 50, when the innings contained 27 extras, when all-rounder Lewis Duell finished with respectable figures of 4 for 48 in his 12 overs.

The home side were happy to settle for a Draw with their 224 for 7 in the resulting run feast after the 48 overs, all-rounder Rich Rosindale cracking a fine 78, supported by opener Mike Oliver with a sound 48, Rich Ingram (24) and Duell who added 28, together with youngster Conn Brattan’s sound 29 not out.

Considering the total, Liam James did well to earn his 3 for 23 in a good spell for the visitors.

Middle Lane Cricket Ground

The curtain comes down on another campaign next Saturday 15th September 2012 at Hedon with the annual Arthur Screeton Memorial Trophy match, at 12.00 noon, with a three team ’round robin’ affair, including a team of “Veterans” to round off things, followed by the presentation of the Trophy by Mrs Barbara Screeton.

Spectators are welcome!

The match will be followed by the end of season Cup Presentations to all the teams within the 130 year old Club.
