OUR CRICKET PUNDIT Malc Ripley has sent his latest slice of the action from South Holderness Cricket Club:
The downward trend of the South Holderness Club continues with the An Xl having to concede their away fixture at Skidby, with only seven players available, whilst at Middle Lane their senior squad were easily defeated by HICE who lost only two wickets in reply to the Hedon side’s total of 151 in their final over.
After a slow start when the first five wickets were all bowled, then crumbling to 89 for 8, only all -rounder Rich Rosindale who put bat to ball by cracking seven boundaries and five big sixes in his undefeated 78, made their total respectable.
Earlier, Rich Ingram made 14 before his stumps were shattered whilst second team regular Eddie Samphire made a sound 22 before he suffered a similar fate followed by Rosa’s onslaught. Veteran Barry Young turned in 12 miserly overs to record fine figures of 3 for 16 with Glen Van Els having 4 for 25 at the other end.
Thanks to good batting from the visitors Alan Kingston with his patient 75 not out and Van Els with his unbeaten 30 to complete a match winning all-round game, only 33.3 overs were needed to obtain the winning points, leaving SHCC facing relegation troubles, unless a big improvement comes within their last four matches.
