TWO FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE in the East Riding to support activities and projects for young people. And unlike lots of other funding programmes, these two funding schemes are directly influenced by young people.
The Youth Opportunity Fund puts money into the hands of young people to help them decide about what activities they want to do. Young people manage the fund. The YOF could be used for employing coaches, booking transport, paying entrance fees, booking halls for activities, etc.
The Youth Capital Fund will be used to improve and develop facilities for young people, with young people steering the use of resources. The YCF is for larger projects, which could include building new facilities, refurbishment or alternative youth projects, which will impact on large groups of young people.
Both funds are designed to be under the control of young people. Any group of young people, aged 13-19, in the East Riding (including Hedon) who have a good idea for a project which will benefit them and other young people in their community can apply. Youth groups applying need to show how young people are involved in leading any project idea.
