Hedon Herald LogoWhat was happening in Hedon five years ago?

A monthly publication out at the time was the Hedon Herald which was published by the Hull Daily Mail and featured stories from Preston, Thorngumbald, Paull and Keyingham.

Headlining in June 2004 was Exclusives hairdressing in Thorngumbald. The salon manager Kim Jumps had just won a bronze award in the National Federation Hairdressing Championships.

Page six carried the startling news that a man brought up in Patrington had admitted being an al-Qaeda terrorist.

News from Hedon Town Council seemed strangely familiar: Councillor Ann Suggit retired as Mayor and Councillor Irene Robinson became the 657th Mayor of Hedon.

Other stories: The Friends of Hedon Primary School were holding their summer fayre; the Hedon in Bloom competition was being judged by Radio Humberside presenter Doug Stewart, while the Women’s Institute members were holding a meeting at Alison Hall and the Holderness Lions were holding a market day tombola.
