The DAY OF ACTION in Paull and Hedon resulted in over 270 more signatures being collected on the Petition and over 100 more comments for the Wall of Shame

Thank you to all those that came and showed their support – particularly those that turned up in Hedon and stood with us for the Hull Daily Mail photos (which will appear in that paper on Monday).

We also picked up lots of useful tips and suggestions for continuing the campaign and ensuring that our actions become more effective!

Comments collected for the Wall of Shame

Hundreds signed petitions on the day

The Yorkshire Water Smells – Wall of Shame!

THE DAY OF ACTION on Saturday 3rd September 2011 at 9:00am at Paull Car Boot Sale and 12:00 high-noon at Hedon Market Place will provide a quick opportunity for people to show their opposition to the foul smells that have occasionally – but persistently – dogged local communities over the last 11 years!

As well as meeting our campaign mascot PONGO – those attending and passing-by will have an opportunity to sign a petition or complete a Post-It note to add to the Wall of Shame.

The Wall of Shame aims to record local experiences of the smells and will be kept as a permanent record revealing how people felt about the stench when it affected their lives – and how it affected their lives. A copy of the Wall of Shame – including a list of each and every comment – will be sent to Yorkshire Water.

You can add your comment to the Wall of Shame now – just click the link!

UPDATE: The ONLINE PETITION has now been signed by over 1,000 people – a similar number of people are expected to have signed paper versions of the petition.

Stop the Smells! – Day of Action – Saturday 3rd September 2011

ON SATURDAY 3rd SEPTEMBER 2011 local people are being asked to support two events on our Day of Action against the smells from the Yorkshire Water Waste Water Treatment Works at Saltend.

The Paull Car Boot Sale is probably the best and most picturesque of any such event held in the area. There is always a community feel to the Paull Car Boot Sale, and the proceeds go towards supporting the local St Andrew Church in the village.

We are inviting people from the village and visitors to join us at the Paull Car Boot Sale at 9:00am to stand and join with us in opposition to Yorkshire Water’s stink.

After allowing time for those who wish to enjoy the attractions of Paull’s Car Boot Sale, an event will also be held later in the Hedon Market Place at 12:00 noon.

At both events (lasting no more than 30 minutes) we will be asking people to write down their comments about their experience of the smells on post-it notes, which will be added to a Wall of Shame and will be presented  to Yorkshire Water at a later stage. Our campaigning skunk mascot will be there he is called PONGO – because we want the Pong to Go!

Please help spread the word! Come and join us on our Day of Action on Saturday 3rd September! Bring Placards and Banners!
