Summer Spectacular at St Augustine’s Church – Sat June 25th 2011

ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO CLIMB THE BELFRY at St Augustine’s Church presents itself on Saturday 25th June 2011 when the church opens for its fundraising Summer Spectacular.

The earliest records about the church reveal that there were four bells in 1422. Two were added in the 18th Century, and two more were added – and the whole peal recast – in 1929. You can see the bells in the belfry tower yourself if you dare to do the climb!

Perhaps one day the church roof will be considered safe enough so that the hidden views of the Holderness landscape can be enjoyed by the public. You can get a glimpse of this landscape through the open lats in the belfry tower.

Visit the Summer Spectacular, enjoy the stalls, games and refreshments and help support the Church’s restoration funds.

…And if you do the climb of the tower – tell the Hedon Blog about your experience and send us your photos!
