Getting rid of your Christmas cardboard

“At Christmas, we all end up with an abundance of cardboard because of the packaging on everything from food to toys” Councillor Symon Fraser

CHRISTMAS IS OVER... but what do you do with that excess of cardboard you have amassed? East Riding Council is holding special collections of cardboard across the area after the festive bash is over.

The collections will be held on supermarket car parks close to recycling banks so that residents can recycle their glass bottles at the same time. Staff, with collection vehicles, will be at the Hedon, Co-op on Hull Road on Thursday 30th December between 10am and 3pm.

Councillor Symon Fraser, portfolio holder for environment and planning, said: “Lots of cardboard gets taken to our 10 household waste recycling sites over Christmas so, this time, we are taking the collections to our residents.”

Residents are asked to flatten the cardboard and remove sticky labels, tape and any non-cardboard packaging.
