Every picture, book, song, and memory shapes your photography.
In 1983, in a retrospective on his life’s work and guiding philosophy, the great Ansel Adams said:
“You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.”
Ansel Adams
We can delve deep into the legacy of Ansel Adams – and it’s worth doing. For the purposes of this post, though, it is enough for me to say one thing. We learn not just by doing but also by studying. Looking at others’ photographic work can help us appreciate their technical and creative processes. Understanding the impact of those images helps us become more thoughtful photographers. This learning experience can help us improve our own photography. With this in mind, we intend to share galleries and material with you via this Blog. The content will aim to be full of images worthy of personal study. We will share links to such content regularly on the Blog.
