The Preston Women’s Institute (WI) is doing what it can to help mark Christmas in Preston amidst the isolation caused by Coronavirus. They initiated a Christmas Window project and invited residents in the village to join in by decorating their windows in Christmas lights. A location map of the streets taking part has been posted on the Community Notice Board on Preston Community Hall (the notice board actually on the building).
On their Facebook page, Preston WI said: “Do you love Christmas? We do and are going to decorate Christmas windows at our homes with the aim of both lifting our spirits in the midst of this isolation and brightening up the village. We hope to create something that both children and adults can enjoy if they wish to have a walk around the village.”
Secretary of Preston WI Jenny Davis said on the village’s own dedicated Facebook page Preston & Preston South group:
“Hi, all you Preston window dressers!! I have posted the map in the WI notice board at the Community Hall, but below is a list of the streets that are taking part.
Rands Farm, Weghill Road,
School Road flats
East End Road
Village Farm Road
“It would help if you could light your window so it can be seen at night. May I wish you all a very happy Christmas and best and better wishes for 2021.”
