POLICE IN HEDON are trying to locate the driver of a car that was allegedly involved in an attempt at accosting a child on Sunday 9th January.

At approximately 4:10pm a black vehicle, possibly a Vauxhall, containing two men and two women, drove up alongside a 10-year-old boy in Baxtergate, Hedon and came to a stop. It is alleged the two men in the front of the vehicle asked the boy if he wanted a lift and told him they had some sweets in the vehicle. The boy refused and ran home. The vehicle drove off in the direction of Hedon town centre.

The men are described as white, both aged approx 20 to 22 years, the driver had short ginger hair and the passenger had short brown hair. There are no descriptions for the women. The boy states he does not know the occupants of the car and it is unclear what the motives of these people were.

Local officers are keen to locate the driver and occupants of the car in order to ascertain what they were doing and are appealing for witnesses to contact them. They also would like to remind parents to ensure their children are aware of stranger danger and ask if anyone else is approached in this manner they should contact Humberside Police on 0845 60 60 222 referring to log 342 on 09 January 2011.
