THE Hedon & District Royal British Legion (RBL) standard has been flying at half-mast this week. This is to mark the death of and pay respects to Dame Vera Lynn who died at her Sussex home on Thursday 18 June aged 103.

A spokesperson from the RBL said: “The Standard has been flown to mark the passing of Vera Lynn. This was requested by our members who remember her ‘War Efforts’ first hand.

“We would like to mention this so our members are not concerned that it is one of our members we are remembering.”
