“I extend the invitation to members of the British Legion and all the residents of Hedon, old and young, to gather to commemorate the beginning of The Great War, and to honour the brave young men of our town who went to the mud and trenches of the Somme and other battlefields in Northern France and Belgium one hundred years ago.”
