Not everyone has a network of family, friends, neighbours or carers to call upon. This page is dedicated to those people. Particularly those in Hedon, Preston, Paull, Thorngumbald, Camerton, Ryehill and Burstwick that are without support.
In response, the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, in partnership with the HEY Smile Foundation, has created a community response hub which will connect the most vulnerable people in the East Riding with those that can provide the help and support they need, which could range from picking up medication or shopping, to a telephone call if they are feeling isolated.
The dedicated telephone number is (01482) 393919 and it will be operational between 9am-9pm Monday to Friday and 9am-6pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

HEDON VOLUNTEER RESPONDERS to the COVID-19 crisis (Hedon, Preston, Paull, Thorngumbald, Camerton, Ryehill, Burstwick).
In addition, in our very local area, a team of volunteers has come together to support those in our community without a network of support.
We’ll be working with the community hub and others to help identify where support and help is needed, particularly to those requiring shopping at local shops or prescriptions delivered. Within our team are those waiting to be enlisted into the new NHS Volunteers Responders army, and also those who just want to help out in their local communities.
We hope to particularly help with shopping, but there may be other ways we can help too. Email us if you think we might be able to help.
If you are worried and concerned about an elderly relative or friend in the area, who has to self-isolate, then we might be able to help.

Hull Street Angels Trinity is an established voluntary organisation that has volunteers covering Hull under Hull City Council, but we do have some volunteers in the HU12 area from Patrington, Preston to Paull. We can do buddy calls shopping or prescriptions.

Make a simple shopping request. Obviously, our volunteers time is precious, and shopping at local shops whilst observing social-distancing requirements can take some time, so we want to ensure that we’re helping only those who really need it.
The system works like this:
- You make a request to us, and if we can help we’ll let you know, hopefully very quickly, if we can help. If we can, we’ll send you another short online form to complete.
- You or the person we are going to help then needs to order and pay for their shopping at a local shop and find out when it will be available to be picked up.
- Our volunteers will then collect the order and deliver it to the person’s home. We’ll knock on the door, and step back until the order is collected.

Volunteers have been made aware of the requirements around social-distancing and the Government guidance on helping safely. Your order and other details on you and the person getting the help will only be kept by us for the duration of this service and will then be deleted.
