The Spoken Word has always been a feature of the Hedon Festival and #Hedfest22 is no exception with a fantastic Yorkshire-based lineup of Street Poets:

#Hedfest22 Hedon Festival Friday 3 June

3.00pm and 5.00pm The Spoken Word at The Haven Arms

3pm – 4pm

OPEN MIC – 30 minutes for any budding street poets to take to the stage.
PETER KNAGGS  – is a Hull writer/editor and workshop leader, the author of five poetry books, and has taken prizes in many competitions, including the National and Forward Prize. He is currently working on a novel to follow up the million-selling “Every Day is a Hawaiian Shirt Day”

JIMMY ANDREX – co-founded Red Shed Readings, makes radio for ELFM and has been on the BBC 6 music. Last summer he performed “Stupidity is Not The Problem” and “Billy Baggins There and Back” a modern adaptation of The Hobbitt. Recently he wrote and performed Tree Talk for Wakefield Word Fest. He is currently promoting a book/album “9 Displacement Activities”.

5pm – 6pm

HELEN RICE – A Sheffield poet, her work is funny, touching, honest, reflective, sensitive and holds up a mirror to our changing world.

STAN SKINNY – A Sheffield power box of lyrical absurdity served with musical whimsy in a hat of heartwarming originality, energy and a fox paw of glamour. A must see!

IAN WINTER – Winner of numerous slams, he throws words at you like a madman throwing eggs at Cathedrals, in a rollercoaster of emotion of a beautifully observed world tinged with love and the comedic.

Five, different, very entertaining performers that will make you laugh, cry, think, and ask for more.
