Adult bereavement support for December quote

In multiple cultures and religions, December is a time for celebration with loved ones. Whether someone has died recently or many years ago, it can be a very difficult and lonely time, when love ones that have died are missed more than usual. Important dates such as anniversaries and birthdays, as well as holiday periods, are huge milestones in the bereavement journey. Feelings of grief can intensify around special dates, so having a plan for such dates can be helpful. Try talking to friends and family about how you would like to commemorate special dates and how you are feeling about them. It is ok to celebrate special occasions as you usually would, equally it is ok to try something different or not celebrate them at all, depending on how you feel. Take time to remember your loved one, you could look at photos, share memories or visit a place that was special to them and/ or you. Remember to take care of yourself and only do what you feel able to do.

The Cruse Bereavement Support National Helpline is open throughout December. If you are struggling to deal with grief during holiday periods please call 0808 808 1677.

The December Drop-in is open to all bereaved adults in the Hedon and Holderness area. The Hull & District Cruse Branch volunteers have experience in supporting all types of loss. The drop-in will provide immediate short-term support, share information about grief and signpost people for further support with Cruse or other agencies, as needed. If you would like support please visit Fred, Heather, Rachael and Gary at the Community Junction Coffee Lounge, Hedon Methodist Church, Church Lane, HU12 8EL. Limited onsite parking is available.

The next Drop-in will take place on Thursday 16th December and will run monthly until March 2022, starting at 4 pm and finishing at 6 pm. Please visit anytime between these hours, no appointment is necessary.
