Hedon Museum 25th Anniversary competitions

Hedon Museum 25th Anniversary.

HEDON MUSEUM 25th Anniversary. It has been open for 25 years, and to celebrate the Museum Society, a registered charity, is holding a set of competitions so everyone in the area can get involved.

A community effort helped form the museum out of the old caretaker’s cottage at the rear of the Hedon Town Hall in 1996. The Chair of the Hedon Museum Society, Mr Anthony Hay said:

“We felt it right to try to include the community in celebrating. We have been successful in obtaining a grant from the Humber Museums Partnership to fund the staging of the competitions, and then follow them with exhibitions of the entries. We then also plan to publish a number of them in various volumes as a special archive for the future.”

There are prizes of book vouchers up to the value of £50. The competition closes on 30 November 2021 and the winners will be announced on 4 January 2022. The exhibition will be held later in 2022.

Hedon Museum will be working with Hedon and Inmans Primary Schools as well as with Holderness Academy.

To encourage photographic entries tutorials are being held at the museum with a basic course on how to get the best results out of your camera, phone, or other devices, followed by another tutorial for more advanced users. These will be completed by a photo walk around Hedon with a little bit of history thrown in too!
