Adult Bereavement Support Drop-in Service Returns to Hedon

The second adult bereavement support drop-in service is on Thursday, October 14 from 4pm to 6pm. It coincides with Baby Loss Awareness Week.

The second adult bereavement support drop-in service will be held on Thursday, October 14 from 4 pm to 6 pm.

The next drop-in coincides with Baby Loss Awareness Week, an important campaign that raises awareness about pregnancy and baby loss.

Pregnancy and baby loss remains a stigmatised subject to talk about within society. Baby loss awareness week aims to raise awareness and reduce stigma around pregnancy and baby loss, whilst also providing the opportunity for bereaved parents and families to commemorate their loss. The campaign is predominately run by SANDS, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death charity and is marked by a blue and pink ribbon. More information about the campaign can be found on the Baby Loss Awareness Week 2021 webpage https://babyloss-awareness.org.

Whether your child was still young, died during pregnancy or died as an adult, the effect of such a loss is massive and hits us right at our core. The Cruse Bereavement Care Hedon and Holderness drop-in can provide support, information and advice to help anyone who is grieving the loss of a child of any age, from pregnancy through to adulthood.

The drop-in is open to all bereaved adults in the Hedon and Holderness area. The Hull & District Cruse Branch volunteers have experience in supporting all types of loss and will be available to offer support no matter how and whenever the death occurred. The drop-in will provide immediate short term support, share information about grief and signpost people for further support with Cruse or other agencies as needed. The drop-in will take place in the Hedon Community Junction Coffee Lounge located in the Hedon Methodist Church. The Junction is a community space that is available to everyone, membership of the church is not required to use the space.

Grief is a natural process, but it can be devastating. If you would like support please visit Fred, Rachael, Heather and Gary at the Community Junction Coffee Lounge, Hedon Methodist Church, 5 Church Lane, HU12 8EL, limited parking is available.

The next drop-in will take place on Thursday 14th October and will run monthly until March 2022, starting at 4 pm and finishing at 6 pm. Please visit anytime between these hours, no appointment is necessary. Look out for the flyers.
