The Holmpton Patchwork Group present ‘Country Crafts’ at Hedon Museum from Wednesday 1 September until Saturday 9 October 2021.

Country Crafts Woodpecker Patchwork

About Holmpton Patchwork Group

It all started 16 years ago, there were originally three workshops, one in Hollym, one in Holmpton and one in Withernsea. Only one has remained in Holmpton meeting on a Thursday afternoon. To begin with, we had a good response with twelve attending a six-week course on patchwork with a qualified teacher. After that, we were left to do our own thing.

Eventually, more people joined the group that did other crafts such as knitting, crochet, rug making and jewellery making. Some just came for the social aspect, the chat and the company. We also arrange craft trips out. Every so often we did projects, especially at Easter and Christmas; we made some kneelers for our local church and knitted/crocheted poppies for Remembrance Day.

We are now thinking of changing our name to ‘Country Crafts’, mainly because we all have an array of skills and crafts, much anything goes as long as it’s craft related.

We currently have 10-12 regular members, but we have had up to 20, with a range of craft skills which we can teach if necessary. We had one member who was never interested in sewing, but loves it now! We are a friendly group and always willing to tackle new skills and crafts.

We meet every Thursday at Holmpton Village Hall from 1.30 – 3.30pm and charge £2 a week at the moment. We serve tea, coffee and biscuits, even cake sometimes!

The Museum is open every Saturday and Wednesday from 10am until 4pm and you will have an opportunity to meet some of the artists at each open day. FREE ENTRY.
