THE PRECEPT for 2021/22 will be discussed by Hedon Town Council tonight Thursday 21st January 2021 at 7:15pm. Whilst normally the meeting would take place at the Town Hall with the public invited, the pandemic dictates that meetings are currently held digitally via Zoom video conferencing and a link to observe the meeting is available from the council.
The precept is the component part of council tax collected by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) that goes towards very local services provided by the Town Council. This amount appears on your council tax bill.
Some of the responsibilities of the council are listed on its website but the council also funds other things such as the Hedon Festival (Hedfest) which last year was allocated a budget but the impact of the pandemic prevented the event from being organised. Hedfest was officially postponed until this year, so it will be interesting to see what provision is made in the new budget for the event considering that the health crisis is far from resolved.
