St Augustine’s Church in Hedon will be open this month (September 2020), especially for Heritage Open Days.

Perhaps a thousand years old, it is believed that St. Augustine’s Church took three hundred years to complete and contains within its architecture distinctive styles associated with specific periods of history.  Each part of the building contains historical treasures for the visitor to discover whether part of an organised tour or just browsing.

This year’s Heritage Open Day events at St Augustine’s Church are taking place amidst the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing guidelines and measures will apply but on a positive note four special tours are taking place relating to the church organised by Hedon History Walks led by Tony Porter, providing a marvellous opportunity to discover much more about the church known locally as “The King of Holderness”.

On Saturday 12, the church’s Autumn Fair is taking place which is an opportunity to visit and support the church through buying from a variety of stalls set up (crafts, jewellery, handbags and scarves, etc, expected).

On Saturday 12 September:
Walks.
Church tour 10-30-12 noon. (Please book in advance with Tony Porter via the Facebook page @hedonhistorywalks and meet at the west door).
Graveyard tour 12.30-2pm. (Please book in advance with Tony Porter via the Facebook page @hedonhistorywalks and meet at the west door).
