Local running, fitness walking and cycling club, Hedon Fitmums & Friends, will reopen on Monday 10th August 2020. The club will be meeting outside at Inman’s Primary School in the carpark and at staggered times (see club website). This means there will be no access to toilets or any other indoor facilities.

Hedon Fitmums & Friends

Hedon Fitmums & Friends is passionate about helping people to become more active and welcomes everyone to its sessions – men and women (aged 16+), and there’s no need to be fit already. The club had to stop meeting back in March to comply with lockdown restrictions but kept its members active and connected through virtual fitness sessions, activity challenges on social media and a popular weekly quiz.

Following significant planning and preparation by the central and local Fitmums & Friends teams, the club is now ready to reopen. It will do so in a way that complies with current national guidance and with guidance provided by England Athletics (EA), its governing body. It will restart its walk and run sessions on Monday 10th August and its cycle sessions at a later date.

The club is taking a wide range of precautions to ensure that it returns to in-person activity in as safe and responsible a way as possible: running and walking routes will avoid Hedon town centre and other busy locations, running and walking groups will be no larger than six, and the club will be adopting staggered start times to avoid larger groups congregating before or after its runs and walks.

The club has also stressed to its members the importance of following national and EA guidelines, including social distancing and the use of face coverings, and of being aware and responsive to the concerns of our community at all times.

Full details of the extensive preparations made can be found on the Fitmums & Friends website at https://fitmums.org.uk/news-article/Reopening-of-Hedon-Fitmums-and-Friends/234.
