East Riding Council is aiming to coordinate support to particularly vulnerable residents during the coronavirus crisis. We are working alongside the HEY Smile Foundation, a charity which co-ordinates with the private, public and voluntary sectors. A contact centre is being set up that will take calls and receive emails from vulnerable or at-risk residents who need our help. This, it is planned, will be in place by the middle of next week. This centre will receive and record the requests for help and will triage those requests and source the best solution.
It would be very helpful to have the best possible understanding of what community and other groups there are in the South West Holderness Ward willing to help those residents who need it.
It would be very helpful if any community or voluntary groups, along with those groups set up on social media channels, could register their details on www.beecan.org. This website is hosted by the HEY Smile Foundation and the aim is to build up a detailed database of organisations that can work alongside the council and build resilience when helping those in need.
Once the contact centre is ready to go, details will be widely publicised via numerous channels, including regular updates to us as Ward Councillors and engagement with Town and Parish Councils.
Wishing you all well at this difficult time.
