Councillor Mike Bryan shows where the defibrillator will be located at the Town Hall

A DEFIBRILLATOR machine should soon be installed on the side-wall of Hedon Town Hall says Ward Councillor Mike Bryan.

Councillor Bryan said that installing the defibrillator had been delayed because of the planning matters that East Riding Council had to consider. As a listed building the Town Hall was subject to special planning consideration designed to protect its character and historical significance.

“Fixing a high-visibility, yellow cabinet to the Town Hall didn’t sit well with all the planning and conservation officers, one of whom asked if it could be painted black!” said Cllr. Bryan But the planning process is now well under way and we should expect to receive permission to install the defibrillator very soon.”

Cllr. Bryan speaking was speaking during yesterday’s visit to Hedon by Graham Stuart MP.  The Beverley and Holderness MP came to Hedon as part of his two-day cycle ride around the constituency to raise awareness of how important it is to have public access defibrillators available in community locations.

The automated external defibrillation machines are accessible via vandal-proof cabinets and in case of emergency when someone suffers a cardiac arrest can be used to help revive the patient.
