Magdalen Park Nursing Home nears completion – up to 100 jobs created

Magdalen Park banner blogYORKARE HOMES have announced that work is nearing completion on Magdalen Park Nursing Home, the state of the art care home on Magdalen Lane in Hedon.

The home, which cost over £4m to build, was designed on work carried out by Stirling University, who are at the forefront of dementia research, to provide the perfect environment for its residents and their needs.

Magdalen Park is due to open mid August and Open Days will be announced soon.

The care home will provide nursing, residential and specialist dementia care in separate units designed for each care need. There are also two assisted living apartments specially designed for couples or siblings with their own kitchenettes and living areas, but these can be used individually also.

The home will include a sensory ‘street scene’ including a shop, hair and beauty salon and a pub. The gardens will be landscaped including two sensory gardens with model animals and allotments. Other facilities include a library, cinema area and a rooftop garden with an artificial bowling green.

“…creation of up to 100 jobs…”

Jonathan Garton, Operations Director at Yorkare Homes, said:

Magdalen Nursing home June 14th 2014“We are very happy with how the works have progressed and the build is looking fantastic. We have also been happy by the response of applications to work at Magdalen Park, which will create up to 100 jobs in the local community over the next year or so. The first round of interviews will be in July and if you are interested in applying please get in touch.”

Councillor John Dennis, East Riding Councillor for South West Holderness and the Mayor of Hedon, has welcomed the news:

Magdalen Park boards“This new facility will be an excellent addition to the retirement home network in South Holderness, and the specialist dementia care it will provide is much needed in this area. I have supported the scheme from day one as it offers a level of care not previously available without significant travelling issues.

“I have seen the standard of accommodation provided at Yorkare’s recently completed project at Goole, and you cannot fail to be impressed. And of course the added benefit of the creation of 100 or so new jobs, many of which will be taken by our residents has to be welcomed.

“I congratulate Mr Garton and his Yorkare team, and wish them well in their Hedon venture.”

If you would like to know when the open days have been confirmed or you would like to apply to work at Magdalen Park please contact them by email at enquiries@yorkarehomes.co.uk or by calling 01482 665063.
