BP at the Saltend Chemicals Park has given advance notice of its intention to test its toxic alarm system on the morning of WEDNESDAY 18th JUNE 2014.
The alarm, which sounds like an old World War II air raid siren, is normally tested every Wednesday at 2pm. But there will be an additional earlier sounding of the alarm during the exercise on Wednesday morning 18th June.
The exercise is a major test of the Saltend emergency procedures and will involve the alarm sounding for a longer period.
Note: The regular short test at 2pm will still take place as normal too.
BP is distributing approximately 7,000 letters (copy PDF) to properties in Hedon, Paull, Preston and a number of properties in Bilton, Wyton and in East Hull.
The firm is unable to tell us at what time the exercise will take place in the morning because they do not want to pre-warn the workforce.
