Hedon Calendar 2014
Hedon Calendar 2014

PLANS are underway to publish a Hedon Calendar for 2015 – and the twelve images in the calendar are expected to be chosen from amongst those sent in by members of the public.

The Hedon Calendar for 2014 was the first project of Hedon Town Council’s new Events Committee and the profits from that venture were used to establish a fund to arrange programme of community events to be held throughout the year. There has already been a coach trip to York National Railway Museum organised in February, and this month the Hedon Baking Competition (Sat 8th March) seems to be attracting lots of interest!

Councillor David Thompson speaking at last week’s Hedon Town Council meeting said that valuable lessons had been learned from publishing the Calendar last year. It had made nearly £500 profit, but this year’s project is hoped to be even more successful. He announced plans to open a photography competition to choose the images to be used in next year’s calendar. “We hope that residents will send in photos for inclusion in the calendar,” said Cllr Thompson, “there are likely to be no strict rules, except that photos must be about Hedon.”

The photography competition is expected to take place in June 2014. The Hedon Blog will bring you further information as soon as it becomes available.

Councillor Thompson also announced that in addition to the Treasure Hunt to be held on Monday 26th May, and the Dog Show scheduled for Saturday 7th June, a Fun Run is expected to take place in July, and August Bank Holiday is likely to be the date for a Bikers Day event.
