Hull KR StorytimeHedon Library Rugby Reading

HEDON LIBRARY has teamed up with the Reading Agency and the Rugby League World Cup 2013 to present Sporty Stories on Saturday 28th September 2013.

Players from Hull Kingston Rovers will be reading stories for children aged 4 years and older at Hedon Library from 10:30am on the 28th Sept.

Each Sporty Story is aimed at children aged 4-plus and there will be a mixture of children’s books with a sporty theme,

There are many ways to get involved in this reading initiative which aims to get as many adults reading as possible – and there is also a chance to win a limited edition of a Hull-themed rugby ball.

Councillor Richard Burton, cabinet portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture at East Riding Council, said: These events are a great opportunity for our children to develop a passion for reading and listen to some of their favourite stories being told by some of their rugby league heroes.

“We’ve been working with both of Hull’s rugby teams, who have given us not only fantastic incentives, but will have our best local players reading stories in libraries.

“With the Rugby League World Cup being played on our doorstep, East Riding Libraries is thrilled to support this incredible event and get people reading as a result.”

Hull FC players will be reading to children at events in Cottingham, Beverley and Bridlington.

Places at Sporty Stories are strictly limited, call in at Hedon Library on St Augustine’s Gate or ring on 01482 897651 to book.

The Rugby League World Cup 2013 takes place in England and Wales from 28th October – 30th November 2013.
