JOHN GAUGHAN performed with sixties pop group Herman’s Hermits in the 1970’s. He enjoyed a successful career and was a jobbing-musician with the likes of Billy J Kramer, Gerry Marsden and the Bee Gees.
However, as John explained in a YouTube interview in 2012, his seemingly glittering career hid a deep secret; he had become an alcoholic. Years of alcohol abuse finally led to a failed suicide attempt at Christmas in 1985.
John says on his website, that: “He was rescued from the pit he was in. Now his one desire is to travel the world, share his story with music and to tell people about the man who saved his life … Jesus.”
John is now a Pastor himself and travels around the country preaching, singing and sharing his life story. Pastor John Gaughan is speaking in Hedon as part of the Christian Life Church series of meetings Breakfast with a slice of Faith . Breakfast is always followed by an inspirational speaker.
