HEDON YOUTH GROUP members are celebrating after receiving a grant for £1,730 at a ceremony hosted by the East Riding Youth and Family Support Service.

Along with 23 other organisations, the Youth Group received a Positive Activity Grant from the East Riding Chairman, Chad Chadwick, and Mike Williamson representing arvato government services who had donated the funding for the grants..

The grants were awarded at an event at County Hall in Beverley on 25th April 2013, and Sam Denby and Jack Freer from the Youth Group attended to receive the cheque.

The youth worker with the group was also present, he said:

“The young people at the group have told us they would like the money spent on more trips, for example ice skating, canoeing, rock climbing, etc. Our main trip of the year is in summer which is a family event to Flamingo land and we hire a coach and use funds to subsidise the cost. We will also be buying new sports equipment.”

The grant will also contribute towards annual rent and insurance costs at the group’s base at the Red Cross building on Sheriff’s Highway. The group meets there every Friday night between 7:00pm and 9:00pm.
