mayan 2012IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR when we start reflecting on the past year – particularly as the World didn’t end yesterday as hinted at by some ancient Mayan calendar!

Of course we don’t believe in such nonsense… but I held off Christmas shopping until today… just in case!

So what do you remember vividly from 2012? It was the year of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and unprecedented success for Team GB in the London Olympics nationally – but what do you remember locally?

What were the highlights for Hedon? Was it the Lady Mayoress’ hat-pulling tug-a-war or the Fireworks at the Town Jubilee celebrations? Perhaps it was the Penny throwing ceremony in May?

The statistics show that the busiest day on the Blog in 2012 was on Saturday 1st December when over 2,400 of you had a look at the photographs on the Blog from the previous night’s Christmas Lights celebration!

We are going to have a look back at some of our highlights between Christmas and New Year – but if you remember something that made 2012 special for your, or something the Hedon Blog has covered this year – then let us know and we can draw other readers’ attention to the relevant articles.

  1. Lots of reports of BP on fire last night – which has got more to do with the additional plumes from Vivergo Fuels than the Mayan Apocalypse I think!? The attached photo was circulated on Twitter and Facebook – not sure who took it originally?Flumes from Vivergo 21st Dec 2012
