Hedon pub Carol Singers
Hedon pub Carol Singers

YOU MIGHT have thought you had walked into choir practice at a church when visiting The Station pub last night!

The pub was packed out with folk vocally supporting the Hedon pub Carol Singers.

Armed with Christian Aid song sheets the whole pub was singing along to Christmas carols – we snapped some of the action on this short video – which I’m going to title – “I sound like an Angel!”

Beryl from the Carol Singers explained that they had been doing the community carol concert at The Station for the past four years and had been prompted to do so by the passing of one of their friends Norman from cancer. Beryl was using Norm’s flat-cap for the traditional charity collection – £127 was collected in loose change for the Dove House Hospice appeal.

Jackie from the pub said that a hamper was being raffled in aid of the appeal as well. She had earlier predicted that whether people sung or not, they would smile! And smile they did – and sing they did!

A wonderful event that really captured the spirit of Christmas!
