Johnson’s Corner Forecourt – Site of Cafe Bar

THE APPLICATION for planning permission to erect a building to be used as a Café Bar at Johnson’s of Hedon has been approved by the East Riding Council.

The Café Bar would sell food and alcohol and would have permission to be open between 8am – midnight.

The planning application did get objections from local residents who feared their quality of life would suffer from increased noise, smells and fears that vermin might be attracted to food waste. Hedon Town Council also opposed the development because of the concerns about late-night noise from customers and the additional pressure the Café Bar would place on limited parking spaces.

In their notice of decision the East Riding Council planners have stipulated that the development would not go ahead until certain conditions are met, which include:

  • Planned filtration and ventilation systems to reduce any smells and fumes are approved by the council;
  • A scheme for the storage and removal of waste is approved;
  • That demands for vehicle access and parking for staff, suppliers and customers are satisfactorily met.
