A PUBLIC CONSULTATION is taking place about how communities should be involved in the preparation of the East Riding Local Plan. This initial consultation – which ends on Monday 5th November 2012 – was highlighted by East Riding Council forward planning officer, Stephanie Robson, at a Hedon Town Council meeting last night (25th October 2012).

Hedon Town Council wants to ensure that its views as a local authority are taken into full consideration when key decisions regarding the Local Plan are being considered.

However, the Hedon Town Council is an example of an ‘easy-to-hear’ group. Perhaps the real challenge is how the East Riding Council reaches out and engages with ‘difficult-to-hear’ groups – and perhaps those groups are a far larger section of the population than we realise!

Hands up those reading this who knew the consultation was taking place!? Enough said!
