THE “CAPTURING THE EAST RIDING” photography competition will benefit from the recent wintry weather.

While the snow and ice may have caused disruption, hardship, and some danger – it has also brought a festive feel and look to the East Riding, with the snow creating some unique and stunning views. The East Riding Cultural Partnership is now asking us to share those views and enter them into a photography competition.

If you have been taking photographs over the past fortnight and would like to share them, then enter them into the Capturing the East Riding Photography Competition. This amateur contest runs until 30 September 2011, when the entries will be judged and the winners entered into an East Riding-wide competition. So whether it is a picture of a snowman you have built or a shot of a field covered in snow, you can send in your entries now!

The Hedon Blog hopes to enter some of the amazing photos sent in to this website (with each individual’s permission), particularly the snowy scenes, but also other images. From January 2011 the Blog will set up a special page where readers will be able to vote on their favourite images in a ‘just-for-fun pre-contest’ – and those with the top votes can be entered into the main competition as Hedon Blog Entries and possibly win some prizes for the individual photographers!

The main competition is open to groups and individuals. For further information, contact Annabel Hanson, leisure, tourism and culture policy officer, on (01482) 391678 or email senseofplace@eastriding.gov.uk

All entries will be posted on the official competition website.
