Hedon Pub Quiz Nights

FEELING INTELLIGENT or clever? Or just a good guesser? Well put those attributes to good use by taking part in a Pub Quiz!

The Station starts its New Year quizzes tonight (Thursday 12th January, 9:00pm) and then fortnightly on Thursdays. The pub also runs a Play Your Cards Right game after each quiz with a jackpot that builds up every week!

The Shakespeare holds its first quiz of the year on Monday 30th January at 8:30pm – with a gallon of beer to be won for the winning team!

The Queen’s Head has two quizzes on Tuesdays. At 1pm the Over 55′s Club – the Happie Crappie Club – meets and a quiz is part of the afternoon’s entertainment. The Quiz Night takes place on Tuesday evenings starting at 9pm.

It’s British Pub Week in Hedon!

BRITISH PUB WEEK starts today. It is a celebration that aims to get people back into local pubs by promoting their positive impact on society.

We’ve talked about this on HU12 but locally in Hedon the Queen’s Head has got into the spirit of things through Marston’s Love your Local campaign.

Visit Marston’s Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/ilovemylocal and register your details then you will enter a draw for £500. They will also send you a code by mobile phone for a FREE drink from the Queen’s!

Alternatively you can text a message: “LOCAL QUEEN’S HEAD” + “your reason you love the Queen’s” to 80010.

Don’t forget to support you local pubs during British Pubs Week! You could do the historic Hedon Pubs Walk.

Royal Wedding Stag and Hen night!

BELATED “ROYAL WEDDING” MANIA 2011 has hit Hedon with a spate of activities being organised for the big day this Friday.

However, the Queen’s Head has come up with the cheekiest idea by organising the Royal Wedding Stag & Hen Party on Thursday 28th April. This night will appeal to all those eager to celebrate the Royals “last night of being single”.

Fancy dress Royal look-a-likes will find a welcome home on this particular night! And I’m sure that landlord Andy Brown and his staff will join in the fun by donning their own Royal Fancy Dress??

Reports and photos please to be sent to the Hedon Blog… :-)

‘Britain’ will be the theme at The Queen’s on Royal Wedding day itself. Customers have been cordially invited to a British Tea Party, British Quiz and British Bingo! A local singer will provide entertainment.

National Yorkshire Pudding Week

Image: www.recipes4us.co.uk

IT’S YORKSHIRE PUDDING WEEK at the Queen’s Head in Hedon. And the pub is offering a free yorkie to all customers all week! Ooo – Is that with gravy I wonder!?

If like me you wonder where the idea for “national” days come from, then in this case the www.recipes4us.co.uk website claims to have invented Yorkshire Pudding Day in 2008. It is supposed to take place on the first Sunday in February. But if a Yorkie is worth eating for a day – it’s worth eating one each day for a week!

Did you know…? batter” or “dripping” pudding, as Yorkshire Pudding was previously named, has been cooked for centuries. It was originally flatter than today’s version, and was cooked in a tin beneath meat which was being roasted on a spit over a fire so it could catch all the drippings from the meat. From Recipes4us.
