Humberside Police new non-emergency telephone number: 101

Active 7th November 2011

HUMBERSIDE POLICE are launching a new non-emergency telephone number from today Monday 7th November 2011. People across the region will be able to reach police on Telephone No: 101.

101 does not replace 999, which will continue to be used for emergencies.

Police appeal following non-stop road traffic collision – Hedon

WITNESSES SOUGHT: At 1:45pm on Monday 10th October 2011 it is alleged that a silver coloured car reversed into a black coloured Saab estate which was parked in the disabled bay on St Augustine’s Gate opposite the Co-op.

The incident caused extensive damage to the Saab but the driver of the silver car failed to stop and exchange details.

Officers investigating the collision are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward to assist with inquiries.

Vehicle Crime Day

HUMBERSIDE POLICE are holding a Vehicle Crime Day on Saturday 22nd October 2011, 10am – 3pm at the Co-op, Hull Road, Hedon.

One of the local police priorities is to reduce incidents of Criminal Damage especially to motor vehicles. Indiscriminate damage to motor vehicles is accounting for almost 50% of damage reports. The Vehicle Crime Day is an initiative that will accompany others such as high visibility police patrols by the Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Crime prevention advice will also be available on the day and also post-coding for cycles.

Police appeal following burglary at Rix Shipping

HUMBERSIDE POLICE are appealing for information following an act of theft and criminal damage at RIX Shipping Co, Alexandra Dock, Hull.

Police were called to the report of 29 static caravans on the Rix Shipping site being damaged after the double glazed windows and doors were broken. Offenders entered the site between 6pm on Friday 16 September 2011 and 9am on Monday 19 September 2011 and caused the extensive damage.

It was later discovered that almost 300 lengths of timber had been stolen.

It is believed the offender(s) entered the site via the disused railway line at the rear of the premises.

Detectives investigating the incident are appealing for anyone who has any information about the incident, or who may know the whereabouts of the stolen timber, to contact Humberside Police on 0845 60 60 222 quoting crime reference 1863419, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police appeal following hay bale arson

HAY BALES have been set alight in the last two weeks and Humberside Police and Humberside Fire and Rescue Service are advising farmers and members of the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

Locally, between 7:40pm and 7:55pm on Friday 2nd September 2011, a stack of bales in a field were set alight on Back Lane, Burton Pidsea.

The police are working closely with Humberside Fire and Rescue Service to investigate this incident and are appealing for the community to come forward with any information they may have.

Appeal for information after car damaged – Keyingham

POLICE OFFICERS are appealing for witnesses following an act of criminal damage which took place on Cooks Gardens, Keyingham.

Sometime between 5pm on Saturday 27th August 2011 and 2pm on Tuesday 30th August 2011 someone caused damage to a white coloured Fiat 500 which was parked on Cooks Gardens, Keyingham.

It is believed a sharp object has been used to cause damage to one of the front doors on the car.

Officers investigating the damage are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward by contacting PC Gray, Hedon Neighbourhood Policing Team on 0845 60 60 222 quoting crime reference 1859549, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Hedon crime figures – for July 2011

HUMBERSIDE POLICE regularly produce statistics on crime in the area on the Humberside Police website.

The July figures reveal that police dealt with 159 calls for service in that month. Some of these incidents (35 of them) are detailed on the website.

These included: – two anti-social behaviour reports about motorbikes being driven up and down different parts of the old railway track. Unfortunately, on both occasions no police patrols were available to deal with the incidents.

There were two reports regarding under-age drinking – one involved teenagers caught drinking on the street in Draper’s Lane. Police seized the alcohol. The second report was about youths on St Augustine’s Gate asking adults to go into local shops to buy them alcohol. The police have warned people CCTV coverage will be viewed to discover who the culprits are.

Three bicycles have been stolen from Draper’s Lane, St Augustine’s Gate and Market Place – keep them locked when not in use!

The crime figures for July:

  • 9 calls about anti-social behaviour
  • 3 burglaries reported
  • 6 offences of assault
  • 1 robbery
  • 8 thefts reported
  • 5 criminal damage offences
  • 1 possession of drugs
  • 1 fraud offence – the use of false number plates
  • 1 report of harassment
