HU12 REVIEWS the new East Riding of Yorkshire Council website which is being developed. It seems very good!

…But whilst on the subject of new websites – you might like to have a sneak preview of the new HU12 Online website that will replace the existing HU12.net in the near future.

Major Emergency Advice from Saltend Chemicals Park (Republished)

FOLLOWING THE RELEASE OF NON-TOXIC VAPOUR from the INEOS plant at Saltend on Monday (26th Sept 2011) and concerns about the non-sounding of the toxic alarm, the Hedon Blog is republishing an article from May 2010 about the Major Emergency Advice booklet distributed that month.

The Hedon Local News Hub

THE HEDON LOCAL NEWS HUB is the kernel of an idea – that if brought into fruition – would involve bringing key groups in the town together to provide a positive press news service from – and about – the town.

It would involve those who have news to share – community groups, local businesses – having a clear mechanism available to reach local newspapers and other media organisations.

The creation of a network of citizen-journalists or community reporters would ensure that stories, news and information about the town was dug-out. Those involved would have opportunities to get training and technical support to aid them in that task.

HU12 Business Pages

Business Pages ImageLOCAL BUSINESSES based in the HU12 postcode area can now promote their premises and website for FREE and easily via our Business Pages.

The company details stored in the Business Pages will be regularly used for ease and convenience by the Hedon Blog when referring to those businesses. When a company moves or changes its website then this will need only one change to be made on the business page, rather than having links on the Hedon Blog which may be out of date.

You can add your company details to the Business Pages easily using the new simple-to-complete online form on that website.

FREE HU12 Classified Ads Service

THIS SERVICE HAS been superseded by the HU12 Shop.

LOST AND FOUND, ITEMS FOR SALE, JOBS and other classified notices can all now be posted over on HU12.net.

Imagine that this is the online version of an Ad in a shop window, supermarket or in a newspaper and you’ll appreciate how useful this service could be! The HU12 Classifieds page will be seen by hundreds of people every week and can even be e-mailed to other people and posted on Facebook and Twitter.

This trial service is simple to operate and notices will stay live for 7 or 14 days. Ads of less than 150 words will work best.

Local traders website link offer

THE DEVELOPMENT OF HU12.net (see article) is prompting the Hedon Blog to build better relationships with local businesses, shops and traders.

Therefore over on HU12.net we are offering FREE text adverts to local traders based in Hedon, Preston and Paull (the HU12 postcade area).

To get a free link to your own website you need to enter the following details into the online form:

  • Company Name
  • Website Address
  • Contact e-mail address
  • Post code

We will also ask you if you want to be kept informed of other opportunities to advertise online with HU12.net

It is hoped to use the collected text links to local businesses to build an online directory of local traders. This will be a useful service to local residents on the HU12.net website and encourage them to use local traders and services.
