Wonderful views from Church tower to be re-discovered

ST AUGUSTINE’S CHURCH are organising a series of events which will raise funds for a new staircase from the bell-room to the top of the church tower allowing visitors to see the wonderful views of the local landscape.

The views that will be on offer from the top of the tower will surely be breath-taking capturing both the Holderness and Hull landscapes.

But in order for the public to re-discover these views, the church needs to raise the necessary funds!

A Flower Festival is being held in May.

A special fundraising preview evening will be held on Friday 4th May 2012 with wine and savouries on offer (tickets cost £10 including first glass of wine).

There will then be 3 days of events taking place during the Flower Festival. The church and flower displays will be open for public viewing on:

  • Saturday 5th May, 10am – 4pm
  • Sunday 6th May, 2pm – 4pm
  • Monday 7th May, 10am – 3pm

On the Saturday local author Valerie Wood will be signing copies of her latest book The Harbour Girl from 2pm – 4pm.

At 7:30pm the church will stage a concert by the Hull Male Voice Choir. Tickets cost £8 (£4 for under 12s) and proceeds from the concert will be shared with the Coastguard Association.

On the Sunday a special Songs of Praise service will be delivered by the Bishop of Hull followed by a bring and share lunch.

Tickets for all the events are available from Hedon Carpets and Beds on Watmough’s Arcade.

These events are a marvellous opportunity to enjoy yourself with your family whilst raising vital funds for worthwhile causes.

Hedon Rangers football Club – Appeal

THIS LETTER OF APPEAL has been received from Ian Smith on behalf of the Hedon Rangers AFC Committee. It is hoped that local businesses and groups can respond:

Hedon Rangers Football Club was formed in 1982 with the sole purpose of providing boys and girls from the local area with access to organised football and a platform to develop a sporting interest that will last a lifetime. We pride ourselves in having a positive input in the local community with our intention being to make children’s introduction and involvement in the game of football as enjoyable and rewarding as possible.

The Way of the Roses Cycle Ride – also the way to a new Paull Village Hall!

SPONSORED CYCLISTS will be travelling through Lancashire and Yorkshire to raise money for the Paull Village Hall.

Kenny Harrison and Pete Allan and friends will be tackling the ‘The Way of the Roses’ cycle ride, between Morecambe and Bridlington and back to Paull, a distance of 200 miles.

The team will be raising funds, via sponsorship, for the Paull Village Hall Building Fund.  Sponsorship forms have been placed in all three pubs in the village (The Crown Inn,  The Humber Tavern and The Royal Oak) so if you can call in and add your contribution that would be great.

The ride will begin in Morecambe on Thursday July 14th and end outside the Village Hall, in Paull, at [updated time] 1pm on Sunday 17th July 2011.  Please come along and support their return. The Press will be there so lets put Paull on the map with everyone turning out to support them.
