Station Pub Carol Concert

CAROL CONCERTS are aplenty at Christmas time in Hedon and area. But one of the most bizarre ‘concerts’ taking place is at The Station pub on the evening of Wednesday 21st December 2011.

The ‘Hedon Singers’ – as they have become known – are a group of regulars at the Souttergate pub who once a year have the urge to sing out in full gusto in praise of Christmas!

The ‘Hedon Singers’ are not normally singers, but they tackle the well-known Carols and medleys with such enthusiasm that spectators stop being spectators and just want to sing along!

Song sheets are provided and customers – if they wish – can join in. And do you know what? People do! It’s as if they are back at school!

The Hedon Blogger is not famous for his baritone; but he can belt out a stirring “Good king wenceslas…” especially after a pint of Worthingtons! But don’t let this put you off!

Truly a remarkable and enjoyable evening!

Santa’s Sleigh in Hedon

Santa's Sleigh - An artist's Impression

WATCH CAREFULLY on Inmans Estate in Hedon on Monday 5th December 2011 – and you just might see Santa’s Sleigh!

Holderness Lions will once again be touring the  Sleigh across the Holderness Area in December – raising money for local good causes.  Father Christmas and a few of his helpers will be on hand to add to the occasion!

Santa’s Sleigh will be at Inmans Estate between 6pm and 8pm on Monday 5th, and at the Hedon Co-op on the 16th December from 1pm – 6pm.

Christmas seems to be game of two halves in Hedon – you get the Sleigh and Santa one day – and you get the Reindeer on the next!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Your Christmas Tree – Prevent FIRE risk this Christmas

HUMBERSIDE FIRE & RESCUE is asking people to take extra care when decorating their homes for Christmas – particularly the Christmas tree!

Although it is rare for a Christmas tree to catch fire, keeping it watered will help keep the tree moist and reduce any risk of it setting fire – as the video below demonstrates – along with keeping the tree looking its best for longer.
