You need to speak to one of the ladies at the Town Hall (898428) – they will put you in touch with the market manager – or just pop along to the market on Wednesday, he’s usually there.

“Finkle” is from an Old Norse word meaning, elbow, bend or dog-leg. There is also a similar old Danish word, “vincle” meaning, corner, angle or short winding street. So most streets named “Finkle Street”, and there are a few in the North, have a sharp corner, as does ours.

Wayfbain has a Grade II listed building
Mid C19. Brown brick. Pitched. pantile roof. Paired brackets to gutter.
Two storyes. Two ranges of sashes. Door with 4 moulded panels and oblong
fanlight. Lower extension to north, with coped gable. Sliding sash with glazing
bars to rear.
