PETITIONERS from the “Save Our NHS” campaign will be in Hedon Market Place (Wednesday 14th August 2013) today seeking support for their campaign against further privatisation of the National Health Service.
The petition, to be sent to the Secretary of State for Health Jeremy Hunt MP, objects to NHS services being put out to tender which, it is argued, changes the emphasis from care, to one of making profits for shareholders. The practice of allowing private companies to use the NHS logo is also being opposed. The new Clinical Commissioning Groups are being urged by the petition to maintain a publicly funded health service, free at the point of use, and based on clinical need, not the ability to pay.
The campaigners will be in the Market Place from 1:00pm.
Shoppers and residents are invited to sign the petition.
