For Comic Relief, South Holderness Technology College is putting on a stage performance based on the television comedy series ‘Are You being Served?’ The production will be held at the college, Station Road in Preston.
Date: 15th March 2013 at 7pm.

Set in the fictional clothing departments of Grace Brothers, this comic rendition of ‘Are You Being Served?’ is the inspiration of English/Drama teacher Mr Simon Williams who is the director and producer and also plays the part of Mr Humphries.

As well as being the director, producer and one of the actors in the upcoming South Holderness Technology College production of ‘Are You Being Served?’ in aid of Comic Relief, Simon has many other credentials under his belt.
For those of you who remember Brookside, Simon appeared in the soap in 1985, when at the age of 15 he played a school friend of Damon Grant.
In 1993 in Greater Manchester, Simon also starred in the Doctor Who special ‘Trial of Davros’. It was a theatrical production based on the television series made by a group of science fiction fans who make their own replica costumes and perform in them to raise funds for various charities. In this particular performance Simon had the misfortune of being killed by a Dalek. He is a huge fan of Doctor Who and owns every BBC video and DVD. He even managed to get an interview and photo taken with the 6th Doctor, Colin Baker, but his all time favourite is Tom Baker.

Over the years Simon has also been a radio presenter in Wigan for 102.4 Wish FM and in the early 1990’s he took part in the Radio 1 Roadshow with Phillip Schofield. Before moving to Hull and starting a new career as an English teacher (as well as a “little bit of drama”) at SHTC, he was six years with CFM radio in Carlisle.
Simon was born and bred in Oldham and began teaching in 2007. He decided a change of career from acting to teaching was in order because in his own words he needed a “proper job” as he is married and is now father to four children.
He’s a person that never seems to stop and is always on the go. From 1982-2006, Simon performed in 29 theatre shows and was the musical director for two of them – ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ (1984) and ‘The Past, Present & Future’ (1985). Both of these were at the Oldham Coliseum.

As the owner of Tower Video Productions, Simon has made 42 films since 1992. One of them was a pilot for “Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased)” in which he played Marty Hopkirk. He has also taken part in two radio plays, one of which was for a radio station in Canada.
To top off all of his achievements (which to be honest are too many to list here!), he has written an autobiography entitled “If You Don’t Like It Don’t Read It”. It is a self-published book and is available at http://www.blurb.com
