Albermarle Care Home – will it be rebuilt?

A PROPOSAL that may see the rebuilding of the Albermarle Care Home on Baxtergate, Hedon was raised with Hedon Town Councillors at a recent Planning Committee meeting.

The suggestion is to build a new care home on the existing site (above) that would have more beds (62 compared with 43 in the existing facility) and more car parking spaces (21 rather than 16).

A rebuilt Albermarle would create the extra space and facilities by building upwards – to three storeys, as shown in the planning sketch below. Additional services and dementia facilities could be incorporated into a rebuilt complex.

The concept is currently being considered by the HICA Group who own the Baxtergate care home.

It is believed that the proposal would get universal support from East Riding Council planners and the Town Council as it involves creating additional capacity, whilst building on an existing site within the town boundaries.
