Reindeer Christmas Visit

WHILE DANCER, PRANCER & Co are getting ready for Christmas, another special family of reindeer will be visiting Hedon on Saturday 10th December 2011.

Vivergo Fuels and the Town Council have arranged for the reindeer to visit Market Hill at 1:30pm on Saturday 10th December as a real pre-Christmas treat and event for all the family! A stall will be set up giving away festive mince pies and mulled wine!

This looks likely to be a fantastic event and a marvellous opportunity for children to see the real animals that now symbolise Christmas and Father Christmas!

All this talk about reindeer prompts that old quiz question: Now what are the names of Santa’s reindeer…? 1. Prancer, 2. Dancer, 3. Dasher,… I always get stuck at this point!

Anyone help?

NOTE: Before visiting Hedon our family of reindeer will also be spreading their Christmas cheer in Preston and Paull, on Friday 9th December, and in Bilton also on the 10th December, see HU12 Online…

Formal Opening of Inman’s Primary School

THE OFFICIAL OPENING of Inmans Primary School will take place on Monday 28th November 2011 at 2.00 p.m.

Inman’s Primary School was flooded in June 2007 and Government funding was obtained for a new school to be built. The £6.9m new facility was constructed on a 90cm raised platform on the site of the existing school. The building work was completed in April 2011 ready for the start of the Summer Term, May 2011.

The new building has been built to reflect the needs of the 21st Century pupils and boasts state of the art ICT facilities.

The Chairman of the East Riding Council, Councillor Kay West, will unveil a plaque to formally open the new facilities. The school children are all going to receive a commemorate mug to mark the occasion.

Merry Christmas and ‘Thanks’ from the Haven Arms Times

Haven Arms Times snip003THE NEWSLETTER Haven Arms Times popped through the door recently. It always entertains and informs – but in this particular issue the Hedon Blog was  pleased to get a mention on Page 2! Thanks!

In true ‘Pub Spy’ style, the Blog does try to get to as many local pub special events that we can – we are keen to plug those events that serve and entertain the local community.

Times may be tough and money short, but our local pubs are still ‘centres’ of community for many people and families; providing entertainment, friendship and social networking – the real people-meeting-people variety mind, not your online stuff! Pubs – as much as churches and formal community centres – all play a useful social function in town.

Oh yes… there is obviously the odd pint or two to be enjoyed in pubs of course – but they are so much more than alcohol and ale-houses in today’s world!

(PS: The Haven Arms Times was delivered as an insert in the current edition of the Holderness Heartbeat – a publication that we love at the Hedon Blog and always keep near the phone).

Find out what’s going on in the area at our What’s On? page - and add your own events too!

Time standing still at noon!

"Can't wait for 5 minutes past!"

PEOPLE may have noticed that the St Augustine’s Church clock seams fixed on 12 o clock! This is because Hedon Town Council have agreed for essential maintenance work to be carried out and the implementation of modifications and automation of the workings. This is to be completed, it is hoped, in time for Christmas.
