PCSOs – Should they be funded through Town and Parish Councils?

THE BBC HAS REPORTED that Hessle Town Council has been funding an additional Police Community Support Officer since 2006.

Is this something that should be taken up by other Town and Parish Councils?

What are PCSOs? Police Community Support Officers are employed, directed and managed by Humberside Police. They work to complement and support regular police officers, providing a visible and accessible uniformed presence to improve the quality of life in the community and offer greater public reassurance.

In South West Holderness we currently have three PCSOs.

So what do you think? Should your local Town or Parish Council directly fund a PCSO to work in your specific town/village?

A call for local musicians!

ARE YOU A MUSICIAN? Would you like to play in front of an audience? The Station in Hedon is looking at putting on a Music Night and is asking for young or mature musicians to get in touch.

The idea is that people would bring along their instruments on a particular night and have the opportunity to play their music for appreciative regulars.
