Paull writer’s first novel tackles mental health taboos

pease pudding hotPease Pudding Hot is a new novel written by local author Elaine Ellis from Paull. The story tells of Joe Sharp and the anguish he faces over two decades from a world that does not recognise or understand his schizophrenia.

Lorraine has written her first book at 52 years of age, in the hope of helping others with mental health problems. She also hopes to help take away the stigma associated with this kind of illness.

The book can be ordered as an e-book for £5.00 through specialist publisher Chipmunka Publishing and may be available in printed form in the near future.

Watch the Hedon Blog for a review of this in the next few weeks. You might like to write your own review and submit as a comment.

Indigenous Settlers Hedon JigZone Puzzle

This week’s puzzle is prompted by the Question Time debate on the 22nd October 2009 and shows the people who settled in what is now the British Isles following the end of the ice age 17,000 years ago – and theoretically are the indigenous people that ought to populate the repulsive party led by Nick Griffin! RayDuff – Personal opinion.

But enough of politics – this is an easier puzzle than the “stinker” from last week’s Talking About Hedon!

Ivy Bean 104 – an Ambassador for Twitter!

Facebook, Social Networking, Social Media, Twitter – Just something for young people? No – Think again!

IvyBean104 Tweet

Ivy Bean is 104 years old and must be the undisputed Ambassador of Twitter! She has nearly 50,000 followers.

Ivy from Bradford keeps her followers updated about the ebbs and flows of her life; from getting her hair done with her friends, to eating fish and chips and watching her favorite show “Deal or No Deal” on TV.

Before getting onto Twitter, Ivy was already active on Facebook; but she had used up her 5,000 friend limit!

I never want to hear that refrain from anyone ever again! – “I’m too old for all that social media stuff!”

Twitter is a free micro-blogging service whose users send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are like mobile phone text messages but use up to 140 characters only. Tweets are displayed on the author’s Twitter page and are delivered to the author’s subscribers who are known as followers.

Hedon and Area – virtual Take Away Menus?

DSCF2047This is the Shapla Tandoori Restaurant in the centre of Hedon. It is open 7 days a week from 5pm – 11pm.

The food is marvellous in this humble blogger’s opinion.

However – what is on the menu? Would it be useful if you could find out by visiting the Blog?

The Hedon Blog could feature the menu from this restaurant and from others in the immediate area. We could also feature reviews from customers.

Is this a service you would use?
